Pins n’ Needles is a musical collective based in Naarm, that showcases artists and selectors through online DJ set vidos and events. I have done all the design for the collective to date and for the foreseeable future, from the brand conception all the way through to promotional material for their YouTube videos and events.

The logo I have created has two versions, one clearly stating the name of the collective and the second an abbreviation of the name which stands as the main graphic logo. The bottom of the letters on the logo aims to pay homage to the stylus/needle used on vinyl turntables, a staple of the Pins n’ Needles collective. The logo also takes inspiration from elements of the music scene in Naarm - a diverse range of rhythms, tempos and genres is represented in the uniform yet unexpected curves of the lines that make up the letters.

I have also created a typeface to service Pins n’ Needles media that is inspired by the Skins compression wear logo. The typeface is used in promotional content on social media as well as print advertising for events and Sip n’ Spins. The typeface is sleek with all letters being the same height to give a fast and futuristic aesthetic. For artists Sip n’ Spin artwork (above) I have taken snaps of their musical influences and layered them on top of one another, colour treated them and placed line graphics over the top, resulting in a netting like effect, another graphic element that has become a staple in the collectives branding.

I also designed the event promotion material for Pins n’ Needles’ first event. I used the same design elements as previous material however I incorporated the use of motion graphics & sound into this design to increase viewer interest. Check out the promotional reel on the
